The New Norm of My Life

As my life changes the life of those I love changes too. I am not the center of their world, they are the center of mine.

Unfortunate Change of Plans

Well, this update is about a week late. We wanted to be sure that most of you heard this news directly from us, rather than through this blog. But this will still be news to some of you.

Last Tuesday evening, the 3rd, we received the terrible news from the doctors at the SCCA. Suzy's spinal fluid contains some cancerous cells. This, along with the amount of disease (lymphoma) disqualified her from the study which includes the stem-cell transplant.

Right now, we're trying some chemo that Suzy has had before and tolerated well in addition to some radiation on her neck area. Her lymph nodes are enlarged and I guess she has always had enlarged tonsils (look like two little meatballs), so the goal at this time is to shrink those down so she can swallow her pills without too much trouble. She said she's been having a bit of difficulty lately with some of the larger ones. She's also been snoring quite a bit, but don't tell her I told you that.

The doctor hinted that without treatment we might be looking at somewhere in the neighborhood of six months. But we're doing this chemo right now, so who knows what will happen. This treatment isn't supposed to be a cure. It is only buying us some more time.

Please keep all of us in your thoughts and prayers.

Darren, can you please tell Suzy that I'm thinking about her every single day? Please stay strong and know that we love her here in TX.

I wish somehow I could see her, hug her and tell her thank you for being a star in my eyes. Ugh, this is unbelievably hard for me, I don't even want to imagine what it's like for you and Suzy.

Saying a prayer again. I love ya Suzy.
