Update...
Well... We had appointments with Suzy's doctor on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. She had noticed that over the past few weeks, Suzy appeared to be losing a lot of energy and just didn't look as good as she had previously. I'd noticed it too, but hadn't really wanted to believe that it was happening.
On Wednesday, after having received fluids on Tuesday and a blood transfusion on Wednesday morning, we met with the doctor again and together the three of us made the decision that it just wouldn't make sense to continue with treatment at this point. She is so exhausted and weak, and any treatment would just make her sicker. As it is, she's spending about 20 hours of the day in bed, asleep. We were waiting to see how she felt after the fluids and transfusion, but there was really little if any improvement.
Today, we met with a representative of the agency that is going to be providing hospice care. I think that eased our minds a bit. They'll be helping with things like pain management, any equipment we might need, etc.
Somehow, Suzy managed to come up with the energy tonight to go out for Thai food. It was nice to get her out of the house. Needless to say, she's back in bed.
Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers.
